Data for * * CLASS is for the oxide only. * * * * Irregularities * * -------------- * * Hydrogen: T is assumed to be in the form HTO, and does not * * concentrate in any compartment. All HTO inhaled is instantan- * * eously distributed throughout the body. Absorption through the * * skin is assumed to increase intake rate by 48%. * * * * Carbon: C is assumed to be in the form or CO2, and is * * instantaneously distributed throughout the body. * * * * Nitrogen: Data for N were not given by the ICRP, so it is * * assumed that all N inhaled is instantaneously distributed * * throughout the body. * * * * Calcium, Strontium, Barium, and Radium: The data for alkaline * * earths was taken from ICRP Publication 20. The retention model * * in this report makes use of a power function, which is difficult * * to treat in the DAC and INDOSE computer codes, so the retention * * data have been fit to multiple-exponential functions. The * * accuracy of the fit is about 5%, which is well within the stated * * accuracy of the model (20%). * * * * Inert Gases: As argued by the ICRP in Publication 30, * * inert gases are not absorbed into the bloodstream, and the dose * * from material contained inside the lung is very small. The * * internal dose from inert gases can therefore be neglected. The * * data included here is only included for "bookkeeping" purposes. * * * * Others: Data for lithium and boron are not given by the ICRP, * * but their are no radioisotopes of these elements with halflives * * greater than 1 s. For the purposes of this listing, the meta- * * bolic data are taken to be the same as sodium and aluminum, * * respectively.
